At Domaine Monternot, there is not a wine that has no awards of excellence. For over 15 years, the Twins produce exceptional Red, "Rosé" and White Beaujolais Wines. They won all the prizes in the biggest competitions for blind tasting : Contest of Great Wine of France, Feminalise contest, Vinalies contest, selection by Hachette guides, General Agricol contest. The regularity, quality, expertise and excellence are the ingredients of wines from the Domaine Monternot.
Our field is located 35 kilometers from Lyon, between Macon and Villefranche-sur-Saône. It is on the foothills of the Beaujolais Mountains near the Mont Brouilly.
The Domaine Monternot is governed by our family for four generations. We are twin brothers. We now cultivate twelve hectares of vines, aged five to ninety years. These vineyards are on granitic and siliceous clay, very stony. They are exposed to the south-east, and on sunny trays. With the help of our wives, we take care of everything from the cut of the vines to the marketing of wine.
We practice a culture known as "raisonnée". Our vines are grassed. This practice replaces the herbicides.
The handpicked grapes are not crushed, not stemmed. The winemaking is traditional while being dotted with modern technology (temperature control). The wines mature in our cellars where they are bottled for marketing.
This constant search for quality has allowed us to glean medals in various competitions in Paris and Macon.
For each vintage, we develop several types of wine :
- The Beaujolais Nouveau is marketed the third Thursday of November.
- The Beaujolais-Villages Fruit et Terroir is bottled in early March.
- The Beaujolais-Villages Réserve Vieilles Vignes, the latest batch of each vintage is bottled after two years of aging in a cellar.
- The Beaujolais-Rosé is bottled in early March.
- The Sparkling Rosé.
- Beaujolais White Wine is bottled in early March.
- Crémant de Bourgogne.
